OUR FOUNDER

Prof. Achyuta Samanta is an educationist, humanitarian and a statesman. He grew up in Kalarabanka, Odisha amidst severe poverty with seven siblings and a widow mother. He managed to complete his Masters, struggling and braving the hardships from the age of four when he lost his father in a train accident.

He founded a polytechnic institution while he was working as a Chemistry Lecturer in 1992 with $100, iron will and strong passion. The small industry training institution grew into a University in 2004, known by its acronym, KIIT, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology. In the same year, he also founded Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) for providing education to the indigenous boys and girls, free of cost.

Dr. Samanta was born in 1965 in the village of Kalarabanka, Cuttack District, Odisha, to Shri Anadi Charan Samanta and Smt. Nilima Rani Samanta. Tragedy struck at an early age when his father passed away, leaving Dr. Samanta and his seven siblings in dire poverty under the care of their widowed mother. Despite these challenging circumstances, Dr. Samanta's determination and resilience carried him forward. He pursued his education and earned an M.Sc. in Chemistry from Utkal University. Following his academic journey, he dedicated a decade to teaching, primarily as a chemistry lab assistant at Maharshi College under Utkal University in Bhubaneswar. However, his contributions extended far beyond the realm of education.

Dr. Samanta's impact reverberates across various domains, including women empowerment, rural development, tribal upliftment, art, culture, literature, media, television, and spiritualism. Recognizing his exceptional work in the fields of education and tribal welfare in Odisha, he was offered the opportunity to contest for Rajya Sabha in 2018. He was elected as a member of Rajya Sabha from Biju Janta Dal. Subsequently, in 2019, he contested from the Kandhamal Constituency of Odisha and became a member of Lok Sabha, driven by his vision to transform Kandhamal into 

a model constituency. Inspiring millions worldwide, Dr. Achyuta Samanta has dedicated his life and work to the pursuit of a peaceful and harmonious world through his flagship programs: Art of Giving, Kanya Kiran, and Education for All. Despite his significant accomplishments, Dr. Samanta remains humble, leading a simple life in a two-room apartment in Bhubaneswar without any personal land or property.

Dr. Samanta holds membership in various esteemed organizations, including the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Executive Committee of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Academic Council of the Central University of Orissa, and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). His involvement extends to international bodies such as the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) in the United States, the Institute of International Education (IIE) in New York City, the Association of University of Asia Pacific (AUAP), and the University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) in Bangkok, Thailand. Additionally, he is a member of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Public Health (APACPH), United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), Asia Economic Forum (AEF), and Centre International Du Films Pour L'enfance Et La Jeunesse (CIFEJ) in Dubai.
